Water Carriers - An Ancient Greek Ceremony of Myths & Music

A ceremonial journey where water becomes a guide into memory, myth, and presence.

Created and held collaboratively by Poliana Dimitropoulou, Pan Kaperneka, and Thanasis Kleopas, this immersive experience brings together storytelling, sacred song, the ancient lyre, ritual movement, and collective prayer. Drawing inspiration from the cosmology, myths, and mysteries of ancient Greece, the ceremony invites participants into a space of remembrance, connection, and embodied wisdom.

Poliana, founder of RHEA Temple and devoted guardian of Greek sacred traditions, joins forces with musicians and cultural artists Pan Kaperneka and Thanasis Kleopas to create a living tapestry where ancient knowledge meets contemporary experience.

Through the symbolism of clay vessels, the body is remembered as a living amphora—carrying water, memory, ancestry, and life itself.

A beautiful invitation to reconnect with the wisdom of the land, the sacred intelligence of water, and the timeless stories that continue to shape the human journey. May we remember what flows through us all.

About

Poliana Dimitropoulou is a ceremonial leader and the founder of RHEA Temple – Ritual Healing Arts, devoted to creating spaces for embodied remembrance and spiritual reconnection. Her work weaves together the myths and mysteries of her Greek heritage with ceremonial practices passed down from Native American traditions. Through ritual, expressive arts, and community gatherings, she guides people into deeper connection with themselves, each other, and the sacred. Rooted in a vision of reclaiming ancestral wisdom, Poliana’s work is a living prayer for restoring reverence, presence, and connection in the world.

Thanasis Kleopas is a composer, singer and Apollonian lyre player from Greece. In the footsteps of the great lyricists of Ancient Greece, he offers the medicine of music in order to bring healing and harmony.
His journey led him to many places (India, Thailand, Japan, China, Texas, Italy, France , Germany, Poland, Switzerland...) where he performed in various venues such as festivals, museums, schools, churches and even at a Dolce Gabbana summer show in Sicily and at the Beijing Cultural Forum 2023, as a ambassador of Greek music.

Pan Kaperneka is a multifaceted composer, singer, musician, and sound therapist whose work bridges tradition and innovation. He is the founder of the groups Avaton, Palyrria, Ghi & Thalassa, through which he has explored diverse musical landscapes and released six full-length albums. Beyond his recordings, he has composed original music for contemporary dance productions as well as for performances of Ancient Greek theater, drawing inspiration from cultural heritage while infusing it with modern expression.
