Danza Mexica
Kitauitl Ketzalli by Restaura, Ikal

What Awaits
This performance is an offering rooted in the Mexica tradition in which I was raised by my grandparents. It begins with a devotional and poetic opening, accompanied by ceremonial copal incense and curated background music, creating a sacred atmosphere of reflection and connection.
The presentation continues with a demonstrative Danza Mexica performance alongside live percussionists, honoring ancestral rhythms and movement. Throughout the experience, I will recite poetry in the native language, accompanied by traditional chants that guide the audience into meditation and carry the message and spirit of the Mexica people to the world.
The performance will conclude with a brief introduction to my personal journey within the Mexica tradition, sharing how this path led me to Ikal Restaura and the opportunity to represent this living culture at the Colobri event.
